THE MANCHESTER PHOENIX
League home games are predominantly on a Sunday evening, commencing at 5.30pm and finishing around 8.00pm. A night at the ice hockey is an entertainment-packed affair with lots of interactive fun for all the family added to the speed, skills, thrills and spills of the fastest team sport in the world.
With crowds averaging 1,500 and growing the Phoenix is a sporting spectacle on the rise. And all this in an atmosphere second to none! Competing in the English Premier League, the team will play 27 home league games in 2010/11 and compete on all fronts for silverware against clubs from Basingstoke, Bracknell, Guildford, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Sheffield, Slough, Swindon and Telford.
Our club encompasses an approved School Roadshow that takes ice hockey out into the community, encouraging participation in sport and promoting a healthy living programme. Last season, the Phoenix Roadshow took the message to over fifty schools across Manchester and beyond.
This season, with the support of sponsors and local schools, we hope to invite children to the Altrincham Ice Dome to get a feel of what it is like to skate and learn basic ice hockey skills.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The Roadshows cover a myriad of topics, including healthy eating and diets, bullying, drug abuse and environmental awareness while highlighting the national curriculum. The Roadshow is run and presented by our players and match night crew, and comes complete with backdrop, PA system, LCD screens, video modules, interactive slides and physical activity equipment.
The Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club, along with its partners, also makes sure that the participants and their families that have never seen the Phoenix play can come and have a great night out, and all for free. This event has not only proved to be of great educational value to the Schools and children, but lots of fun. Many, many schools already have this event in their calendar. Our aim this year is to put 1500 children, plus their families, through this element of the foundation’s activities in the next twelve months.
